Excitement for Shadow Specters: Zombie Combo

Zombie Combo Deck

Hey everyone, Curran back with another deck for you all.
Since Halloween is right around the corner,as well as Shadow Specters coming soon right after, ive gotten a bit into the spirit and tested through a zombie combo deck idea i had.
this deck is alone one of the most versatile decks ive ever experimented, having over 17 ways to otk.
enough of the chit chat, and on with the deck list:

monster line-up:

3x zombie master
3x pyramid turtle
3x goblin zombie
3x blue-blooded oni
2x summoner monk
2x endless decay
1x mezuki
1x shutendoji
1x plaguespreader zombie
1x bone crusher
1x bacon saver

spell line-up:

3x book of life
3x inferno reckless summon
3x mystical space typhoon
1x foolish burial
2x zombie world

trap line-up:

1x bottomless trap hole
1x call of the haunted
1x solemn warning
1x torrential tribute

extra deck:

1x doomkaiser dragon
3x lavalval chain
2x photon papilloperative
1x abyss dweller
1x daigusto emeral
1x gagaga cowboy
1x gem-knight pearl
1x maestroke,the symphony djinn
1x number 39:utopia
1x number 50:blackship of corn
1x steelswarm roach
1x vylon disigma

the deck:

this deck has combos up the ass, litterally. after roughly turn 2 you have a perfect set up to start your combos, however you want them executed.
i always felt zombies a little unfair in a way, having their main card a combo starter and can use his effect multiple times so long as replaced.
but in this deck, good ol' master isn't the VIP,
so lets take a look at the engine card of the deck:

When this card is Normal or Flip Summoned: It is changed to Defense Position. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material you control to target 1 Level 4 Zombie-Type monster in your GraveyardSpecial Summon that target.

Oni is the reason the deck is so beefy with its combos.
he himself can can get nearly any Xyz play into a OTK play with ease, and with cards like Inferno, any combo gets humorously bigger.
and the main Xyz card you'll go into for prime will be lavalval chain, being he can easily set up graveyards, and after you do,he's just food for oni.
with oni, combos are possible with no cards in hand, which is Insanely good being you will run out of resources very quickly.
winning within 4-5 turns or so is a must with this deck.

being an old zombie player myself(back when the main cards used were zombie world and red-eyes,)
coming back to playing this was a bit nostalgic for me.the deck itself was very graveyard reliant, which it still is,but less dependent on your opponents grave rather your own.
coming back and experimenting feels great, but the deck will always feel a bit underrated to me.

FAQ's:

why not another mezuki?
zombies only needed one to begin with. Plus shutendoji gets him back anyway.
also i feel it builds a players mind towards combos and how to get out of certain situations without easy outs.

if oni uses its effect and is replaced (special again, set,or multiple copies,) will i be able to use its effect again?
yes,
"once per turn" counting it face up on the field, and only that oni.

why zombie world and not another card?
zombie world gets around spellbooks, dragons and ect, stating they are zombies in the grave and field.
(no fate, banishing for dragons, and ect,) but to an extent

no il blud?
never liked it to begin with.
ya he may get a zombie but he's a gemini, which uses up a normal and he's not a combo card.

no malicious?
he's a good card, don't get me wrong, but i didn't exactly have him in mind when building the deck.you can put him in (i don't care really,) but the deck is really tight with cards.

i'm not gonna sit here and put multiple combos for you all,but i will put one to get you guys started:
this combo requires:
1 card in hand
shutendoji,blue-blooded oni, mezuki, and zombie master in the grave.

-banish mezuki for zombie master
-use zombie master's effect to ditch, then special shutendoji
-use shutendoji's effect to put mezuki back to the top of the deck
-overlay master and doji for lavalval chain
-use lavalval to send mezuki to the grave, ditching shutendoji
-use mezuki to special blue-blooded oni
-use oni's effect, ditching the zombie master off of lavalval to special shutendoji
-use shutendoji to send mezuki to top
-overlay for lavalval chain
-rinse and repeat
on the second time around you want to ditch oni from lavalval chain then sending mezuki to grave.
this way you can reuse oni with mezuki, endlessly getting him back with shutendoji.
this is why i love zombies <3

i hope this deck helps all you yugimon players, and have a great Halloween.
im 2exite for shadow spectors, so this deck helps me with my ADHD
if you don't think thats the tightest shit then get out of my face.

until next update.

Psy-Gusto:Power in numbers

Gusto:Top Local Decklist

I seemed to have topped my locals recently with gustos. I rarely get anywhere above 7th place out of roughly 30 players,so this was a big thing for me.
i got first place, winning 5 straight games until my streak was broken by Elemental Dragons.
took final game against elemental dragons by a Starlight Star bright and Axon. It was basically scoop after that.

lets get onto the decklist and analysis:

monster line-up:

3x winda,priestess of gusto
3x gusto gulldo
3x gusto egul
1x caam,serenity of gusto
1x reeze,whirlwind of gusto
3x serene psychic witch
2x silent psychic wizard
2x esper girl
2x psychic commander
1x hushed psychic cleric
2x maxx c
2x effect veiler
2x tragoedia

spell line-up:

3x emergency teleport
1x dark hole
1x mind control
2x miracle synchro fusion
2x mystical space typhoon
1x pot of duality

trap line-up:

2x psychic overload
1x psychic rejuvenation

extra deck:
2x ultimate axon kicker
1x daigusto gulldos
1x daigusto eguls
1x daigusto sphreez
1x ally of justice catastor
1x t.g hyper librarian
1x magical android
1x naturia beast
1x naturia barkion
1x psychic lifetrancer
1x thought ruler archfiend
1x scrap dragon
1x mist wurm
1x star eater

the deck:

the deck is really, really hard to use if you don't know how to properly save your key cards for late game pushes.of course, there might not be a late game,
so taking that precaution can be quite a hinder.
half of the time i drew egul with no kind of support, which can be really bad in a format where everything is popped or banished.
but thanks to the curiosity of players, attacking set monsters is a kind of right of passage, thinking its either ryko or some other kind of easy card to get around, setting off my toolbox.
you cant just winda=gulldo=egul=caam in this deck, since you're only running the sole caam.
randomly specialing caam when you feel you can go off is still a double sided coin.
i love her to death, but bottomless and other removal are still in the game, limited or not.

one good thing about some of the gusto monsters are that psychic, which means they are compatible with E-tele and food for some of the synchros (lifetrancer, android, axon, ect.)
lets take a look at the raining VIP of the deck:

Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner "Gustomonsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can target 1 "Gusto" card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand. Your opponent takes any Battle Damage you would have taken from battles involving a face-up"Gusto" monster you control. This card cannot be destroyed by battle.

this baby is 2damn good.
She alone won me a few matches doing the gusto loop on high attack monsters.
her trigger ability is also Very nice, able to get back any gusto in the grave.this effect includes 'daigusto' monsters, since they still count as gusto.
and just like the rest of the daigusto synchros, she states that she needs a Tuner(note she just says tuner, not a gusto tuner,) and a gusto monster.
caam+esper girl

redirecting damage is an amazing effect, making your opponent rethink some of their plays and waist resources to get her off the field.
she,as well as all the other daigusto synchros, are psychic.this means she's compatible with:
-silent psychic wizard
-hushed psychic cleric
-axon kicker
-lifetrancer(though i recommend not to)
-magical android

and also a target for caam when in the grave.
you just don't know the satisfaction when you normal a wizard and banish her, then just synchro up into something and get her back.
keeps the opponent annoyed and you safe for a turn or two.

now for the runner up of the deck:

Once per turn: You can return 1 card from your hand to the bottom of the Deck to target 1 monster your opponent controls and 1 face-up "Gusto" monster you control; switch control of both monsters.

to tell the truth,i didn't like this card at first.shes a lvl 5 that needed to send a card back to switch.
until one day i was testing and i saw the plays she can pull out,and the seemingly infinite synergy she had with the deck.
she alone can turn around some really shitty situations.
switching her with a dracossack or big eye is so fulfilling in life.
ya there may turns where she has to be tributed or some other tedious play to get her out on board, but there's one card that makes her such a wonderful piece of ass.

Serene Psychic Witch:
When this card on the field is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: You can banish 1 Psychic-Type monster with 2000 or less ATK from your Deck. During the next Standby Phase, if this card stays in the Graveyard:Special Summon the monster banished by this card's effect.

i had to re-read serene to make sure i wasn't tricking myself.
serene alone searches all the decks psychics, and even get out whirlwind from the deck.
that equals one less card i have to worry about, and i got a switching option next turn.
Also to note, serene doesn't care how she's destroyed, just as long as she was on the field when it happens (except banishing her, that's an issue.)
a scrap dragon for serene and a back row was a play i had fun with, getting the cards out of the deck i needed while letting scrap take care of anything i don't like.
im a big control junkie,
so she is an absolute must.

of course, this deck wouldn't have been as successful without the (indirect) help from the moderator of The Gusto Tribe.
So thanks mate, for the amazing info on some of the cards,
i tip my hat to you sir.

i also got my FIRST shout out, from a DN friend masseur Francisco Lake.
please check out and sub to his channel, really cool dude and deserves (all the) credit for helping me with the previous Budget deck Post.

im so glad to have made the deck, and the success its been showing so far.
ill make sure to keep this deck up to par,and update you on it whenever i can.
much love for the gust.
until next update.

Budget: New to the Game

Budget Deck: Blue-Eyed Maiden

This is a budget Build for those new to the game. With newer players running the Structure deck: Saga of blue-eyes white dragon,
Id thought id give my recent tested deck list to you all.
now on with the deck shall we?

monster line-up:

3x maiden with eyes of blue
3x shining angel
3x alexandrite dragon
3x heiratic dragon of tefnuit
2x blue-eyes white dragon
2x mirage dragon
1x flamvell guard
1x darkstorm dragon
1x honest
1x rider of the storm winds

spell line-up:

2x dragon shrine
3x enemy controller
3x swords of revealing light
3x enemy controller
2x silver's cry
1x one for one
1x white elephant's gift

trap line-up:

3x fiendish chain
2x castle of dragon souls
2x call of the haunted
1x compulsory evacuation device

extra deck:

3x azure-eyes silver dragon
2x slacker magician
2x number 39: utopia
all other places are for self preference

the deck itself:

the deck in this design is very grinding.Of course, you're usually sitting on maiden half the time while your opponent tries to find ways to get around her without activating her effect.
lets take a look at maiden:

When this card is targeted for an attack: You can negate the attack, and if you do, change the battle position of this card, then you can Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your handDeck, or Graveyard. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets this face-up card (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. You can only use 1 "Maiden with Eyes of Blue" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

now to start off,we have an abundance of good effects riding on her alone.
she can:
-special blue-eyes from generally anywhere
-deck thin
-negate attacks
-save you from potential damage
-special (even) when targeted by 'cards' (not just spells, traps,or monster effects)

she will be the main card you sit on in this deck early turns. She is a small engine to get the deck started and a threat to the opposing player.
but there are a few things to note about her:
the text that states "you can only use 1 'maiden with eyes of blue' effect per turn, and only once that turn" is one downside and factor that you will have to pay attention to when using maiden.
even if she is removed from the field and replaced, or you have multiple copies on board, you cannot activate those effects again after its been used that turn.
you can only use one of those effects per turn, and only once per turn,
this is because the card states 'Maiden with eyes of blue,' which applies to all copies of her.

But to add to the plus side, she can negate attacks even if there are no blue eyes' to summon, which is good food for thought.
she is also a tuner monster, along with the two other tuners in the deck, which are all lvl one.
lets look at the synchro for the deck, azure-eyes silver dragon:

Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Normal Monsters
When this card is Special SummonedDragon-Type monsters you currently control cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects until the end of the next turn. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: You can target 1 Normal Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.

Now,even though this card seems a bit subsiding, its effect is actually really amazing if used correctly.
But this also means you have to really think about your plays when you want to bring this guy out.
he only effects dragons you currently control,so anything new you bring out is naked to his effect.
this one isn't used for its attack, but more a defense card and a helper for an end game push,
there's no reason why you should sacrifice a 3k beat stick for a 2.5 hitter with a wasted effect unless you absolutely need to.

lets look at another card in the extra deck that is an amazing stall and helper:

Level 1 monsters
Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets this face-up card: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

slacker stands the best rank one in my opinion.
not much really to say about her,but we'll go over just for assurance:
she can protect herself from battle once, which is amazing, while also putting into consideration she has a pretty beefy def racking up to 2100,which smaller monsters will have a hard time getting over.
she also can negate cards that target her, which makes her a small time staple for this deck.
whats also amazing is that she can use that effect up to twice per turn, not just once.which means she can bate out your opponents cards without having a hindered condition.
she is of course, stopped by dark hole and mass removal cards, but that's a waist on their part and one less card you have to worry about later.

of course, this build is suited to my personal play style,so if you don't like, then you're welcome to do whatever you'd like to the deck.
i hope you newer players were able to get something out of this small deck and overview, and i wish to see you all in the future.

until next update.

Late Introduction

Late Introductions

Who are you?
hello. You've probably already stumbled upon my blog and know i go by the alias Curran, but for the sake of argument allow me to reintroduce myself.
my names Drake,
ive been playing ygo since i was about 8,and have been playing competitive for about 4-5 years now.
im not very good, hence my sub head, but i do have quite a bit of experience in this game and know what im doing (to a degree.)

Do you use any current topping decks and/or meta decks?
i usually play my own ideas against general meta decks, and or for fun.most of the decklists you will see here will be of my own creation (not saying it hasn't been done before, but just in my way.)

Favorite deck?
my favorite deck will have to be Gishki. ive used them since they first came out  in the tcg and haven't wavered them since.

Curran?
One of my favorite cards in all of ygo, Ebon Magician Curran is the counterpart of Pikeru. I was drawn to the card by the cute artwork and the cards surrounding them (trial of the princesses, ect.)
And it soon became a sort of logo for me.

Current deck you're using?
im running a variant of Amazons i came up with a while back. 'very' grinding

Best budget deck in any format?
dark world id have to say agents

Anything for shadow specters?
i really want to build Ghostricks.
(get a candle, light it, go in your bathroom, cut the lights out, look into mirror and wisper ghostrick mary three times and maybe she will be will be printed in the tcg.)

Overlooked decks in your opinion?
box of friends,fascinating fiends/traptrix,madolche,gusto,ect.

Will we see a lot of decklists and overviews?
Very

For the players on budget, will you post some budget decks?
I am also a budget player, and nearly everyone of the decklists will be under $80

Yugi-tube?
was considering, but i have to get rid of my low self esteem first

Your favorite yugi-tubers?
YourYugiohChannel,Decsilentenigma,DragonDuelistGirl

Favorite episode in season 1 of ygo?
joey vs marik

-In relation to the 3-axis FK deck posted recently
ratio of the consistency? and what decks can it beat along with ones it has issues with:
the decks consistency is parlay to the opening hand, but no matter what hand you have you can usually pull off combos pretty efficiently without issue.
the deck (as stated before) is very aggro,so beating down the opponent is a must in early turns.the deck wins against most decks, and doesn't have much of an issue with prophecy nor E-dragons,though decks like synchrons or decks that can match and overwhelm can be an issue, since you want to be the one overwhelming.

-In relation to the pemature 'ninja' post recently
will we ever get the decklist and overview for the ninjas?
yes, I will be updating the ninja post in the upcoming week.
I want to get through some more testings before I be sure of the decklist

any upcoming decklists soon?
thinking ghostricks(including mary) and a few budget decks tomorrow.
nothing too exiting, but its still something to look forward to.

still got some ideas floating around in my head so there will be some more decks soon to come.
will keep you posted.
until next update.

3- Axis Fire King

Deck idea #2: 3-Axis Fire King

Now,of course this deck hasn't been the most prominent thing to ever be exercised, there are many people who have thought up and used this kind of idea,so bullshits aside ill get onto the deck and some combos.

Deck List:

monster line-up:

2x fire king high avatar garunix
3x brotherhood of the fire fist- Leopard
1x brotherhood of the fire fist- spirit
1x brotherhood of the fire fist- hawk
1x brotherhood of the fire fist- rooster(will explain reason later)
2x brotherhood of the fire fist- bear
3x fire king avatar barong
2x fire king avatar yaksha
1x fire king avatar kirin
2x effect veiler

spell line-up:

2x circle of the fire kings
3x onslaught of the fire kings
2x fire formation- tenki
2x fire formation- tensu
1x fire formation- gyokkou
2x forbidden lance
1x rekindling
2x mystical space typhoon
1x dark hole

trap line-up:

1x fire formation- tensen
1x compulsory evacuation device
2x destruct potion
2x mirror force

extra deck:

2x brotherhood of the fire fist- horse prince
1x sirius the blue wolf star
1x vulcan the divine
2x brotherhood of the fire fist- lion emperor
1x brotherhood of the fire fist- tiger king
1x leviair the sea dragon
1x mechquipped angineer
1x number 49:fortune tune
1x gagaga cowbow
1x maestroke the symphony djinn
1x abyss dweller
xx 2 spots in the extra are complacent for players choice

deck and its combos:

The deck itself is very fast and aggro. Most of the time it will seem like the 3 axis base cards(leopard and spirit) do most of the work at times.
a child would know what to do with barong and yaksha,so not much explaining to do there.I added kirin to the deck for an angineer play, also a blank target for horse prince if you run out of fire fist lvl 3s early, which actually happens very quickly.most of the duel you'll sit on horse prince or a yaksha(in most cases) until you have a set up to blow up the field with the turkey
playing around garunix is also a big thing this deck is capable of.setting up garunix while having a circle in hand means a monster reborn in retrospect, usually blowing up barong for a bigger or more useful monster thats in the grave can set up alot of potential threats for opponents.
not to mention it gets around fiendish chains,d-priz and other stupid shit.

why not another rekindle?
its not a main factor in this deck and really isnt all that important.but drawing into it late game can be a turn around.

why no maxx c?
drawing isnt really good in this deck.ya it may 'scare' or potentially stop an opponent, but you need cards in your deck in order for it to work properly.

trag or gorz?
whichever one you feel.i didnt put it in this build for a multiple of reasons, which you will have to see for yourself

another tiger king?
barely made him to begin with.

1 rooster?
drawing into rooster sucks immense donkeydick.

kirin?
will explain in the section below

kirin uses and combos:

effect:If a face-up "Fire King" monster you control is destroyed by a card effect: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: Send 1 FIRE monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.

kirin can send useful pieces for set ups to the grave when either blown up or ran over.he himself can make certain plays such as angineer or lion emperor without expending your limited space of fire fist monsters.

one play u usually do:
-onslaught for kirin
-normal summon leopard
-leopards effect, tribute off to set either tenki, gyokkou,or tensu, depending on your hand in question
-activate tensu (or if already on the field, use its effect) and normal a spirit
-use spirit to special leopard, then synchro into horse prince
-use horse princes' effect to special a rooster or hawk (your choice really, but for the sake of argument we're going to say you special rooster)
-use rooster to search bear on his special
-overlay rooster and kirin for either mequipped angineer or lion emperor.

angineer ensures you keep prince on the field for another turn or so,just in case of set backrow or bigger threats. while lion emperor gets back spirit, then you're able to make another play next turn if called for.

a very small play but one to note at that. kirin is also a rekindling target, and so most of the cards in deck(yaksha, barong, spirit, ect).

the deck holds its own,and combats alot of running decks this current format (october 11).
one bad matchup to note is lightswarn/lightray,but besides that its done/and is doing very good, and i hope to build it soon enough.

until next update.

Ninjas

I feel a bit lethargic to continue testing my ninja idea I had going considering I already did some strenuous tests earlier in the month.they need a bit of tweaking but...bleh

I absolutely love ninjas although, they have a certain aspect that most decks don't,surprise.
Anyone can say transformation and super aren't really surprising, though I combat that statement all the time.
An end turn ninjutsu art for yae into a red dragon to target set cards can be devastating to decks that need to set up plays;what are they gonna do?chain to it?
Just make them keep drawing the same thing for a turn or 2,
Slows them down immensely to the point where they won't even set the card you send back in fear of having it put back to the top.
They minus one and you get a seemingly free 24beat stick that can be a ninjutsu art target If the situation calls for.
Against decks nowadays such as dragons and prophecy this deck can hold its own to a degree, white ninja has built in protection but it only extends so much until he gets popped or banished, though draccosacks aren't really an issue since they always do the same thing over and over and you learn to work around the repetitiveness.

Decks like Fire Fist hurt this deck immensely,
Gyokkou can basically stop all potential ninjutsu plays and set you back to the point of just tossing a flag.
I have the dark bribes for those, but we all don't get what we want when we need it sometimes.
Tensu basically says whatever to super art and Tenki keeps their hand full of potential issues.

Ninjas have potential to be a really versatile deck,so I'll keep testing to see where I get.
will update this idea soon.
